Academic Advising

Academic Advisement is available to students throughout the duration of their academic programs. WaveNet is the University's online resource for assisting students with class registration, scheduling, grading, student accounts, and financial aid awards. Students should work directly with their academic advisor or program administrator to monitor their academic success at the School of Nursing.

Academic advisors are available to assist you with a variety of topics such as:

  • Counseling on enrollment, academic progress and degree requirements
  • Transfer credit/waivers, course and program petitions, and probation status
  • Assist with registration holds, leave of absence, readmission, and course and program withdrawal

Students are highly encouraged to work with their academic advisor or program administrator throughout their program and address any academic questions or needs they have.

  Class Registration

2-Year BSN and ELM-CNL

Throughout their academic program, students will participate in a cohort model and follow a prescribed sequence of courses aligned with their intended field of study. Courses must be taken in the designated order, as any modifications may disrupt program enrollment and delay successful completion. The CHS Student Services team will register students into their courses each term on their behalf. For questions about registration, please contact chs.studentservices@pepperdine.edu.

4-Year BSN

During their first semester, students will be pre-registered into a set of foundational courses curated to support a smooth academic transition and ensure alignment with their intended major or general education requirements. This approach helps reduce the stress of course selection during the onboarding process and provides a structured introduction to the university’s academic expectations. Beginning in their second semester at Seaver College in Malibu, students will be responsible for self-enrolling in courses. They will receive guidance from academic advisors and have access to planning tools and resources to support their course selection and long-term academic planning.

  Add/Drop Policy

2-Year BSN and ELM-CNL

Students in the College of Health Science (CHS) are enrolled in lock-step, cohorted programs. This means students progress through their courses together in a prescribed sequence as outlined in their program of study. Course placement is managed by the program and follows a set academic plan. Students do not self-enroll in courses.

Because of the cohorted structure, dropping or deviating from assigned courses may significantly impact a student’s enrollment status and delay their ability to successfully complete their program. Please contact chs.studentservices@pepperdine.edu with any questions.

4-Year BSN

Students in the 4-Year BSN program will follow the add/drop policy at Seaver College. Tuition refunds (if applicable) for dropped courses will be calculated based on the verified date of the student’s request. Dropping below 12 units or registering in more than 18 units will affect your charges and financial aid. Students who drop all courses for a given academic term on or after the term start date are subject to a $150 withdrawal fee.

Eligibility Procedure

Students are eligible to register if they are academically and financially in good standing. Students who have not submitted official transcripts will be unable to register until the transcripts are received by the Office of Admission. Note: Once a student registers, they have officially enrolled and are committed to attend class(es). Students with holds due to financial obligations should contact the Office of Student Accounts at 310.506.8000 or chs.student.accounts@pepperdine.edu or prior to registration.

Financial Responsibility Agreement

In order to register for the upcoming term, all students will need to electronically sign a Financial Responsibility Agreement. An item will be added to each students "To Do List," and a related registration hold applied to the student's record. To remove this hold, students should electronically sign this agreement by logging into WaveNet, go to "Student Center," then to "To Do List" located on the right side of the "Student Center."

  Degree Progress (DAR)

A Degree Audit report (DAR) is a printed record of a personalized degree plan and an analysis of academic progress for each student based on the catalog requirements for a degree. The system evaluates and tracks all coursework that has been completed or is "In Progress" at Pepperdine and courses taken at other schools that have been processed as transfer credits.

You can access your Degree Audit Report (DAR) through Wavenet.
