Spiritual Life
Mission
Pepperdine is a Christian university committed to the highest standards of academic excellence and Christian values, where students are equipped to lead lives of purpose, service, and leadership.
Vision
Pepperdine University aspires to be a preeminent global Christian university, recognized for the integration of faith and learning, and known for graduates who lead purposeful lives as servant-minded leaders across the world.
Our vision articulates what we aim to become. George Pepperdine envisioned an institution that would transform students’ lives, empowering them to positively influence the culture around them. He imagined a global network of alumni—grateful recipients of a Christian education—who would feel a moral imperative to serve others with humility and generosity. This commitment is captured in the University’s motto: “Freely ye received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8).
College of Health Science
The College of Health Science (CHS) and the School of Nursing will embody Pepperdine’s Christian mission by integrating faith and learning in the field of healthcare. The School of Nursing will provide students with a faith-based perspective that reflects Jesus’ call to love our neighbors through compassion, selfless service, and excellence in care.
The Hub for Spiritual Life
The Hub for Spiritual Life supports the Pepperdine community through worship, spiritual care, and pastoral guidance. Rooted in the University’s heritage of faith, the Hub develops and offers programs, trainings, and resources designed to cultivate a vibrant and consistent spiritual life on campus.
The Hub also provides CHS students with pastoral care to talk, pray, and receive support. Whether navigating questions of faith or the challenges of college life, students are invited to connect with the Hub’s pastoral care team and explore the resources available to nurture their spiritual well-being.
Community Engagement and Service
The Office of Community Engagement and Service (CES) in the Hub for Spiritual Life is a place where CHS students can connect to meaningful service opportunities. Through regular service projects, long-term partnerships, community collaborations, and special service events, volunteers can explore how service can be practiced as a spiritual discipline.
