Licensure for Online MS in Speech-Language Pathology Program

Pepperdine University’s Speech-Language Pathology program leads to a Master of Science (M.S.) in Speech-Language Pathology.

Speech-language pathologists address the full range of communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. They work in diverse settings, including healthcare, private practice, rehabilitation centers, and research, serving individuals with a variety of needs.

The program is designed to prepare applicants to begin their clinical fellowship, the first step toward eligibility as a Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist within California.

Students may also be eligible for licensure in other states outside of California; however, licensure requirements differ from state to state. Most state licensing boards require a master’s degree, testing, and potentially additional post-graduate coursework/supervised clinical experience requirements. Some states require an additional certification or license to work in a school setting. Applicants who wish to practice in school settings should coordinate licensure and credentialing efforts with the state or local department of education to ensure compliance with specific requirements, which may differ from healthcare licensure standards.
