
Michelle Cutler
Biography
As an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Onsite Immersion Programs of the Pepperdine School of Speech-Language Pathology, Michelle Cutler brings extensive experience as a senior administrator in K-12 education and as a clinician in healthcare settings. Cutler most recently served as the administrator at Anderson Christian School in Anderson, SC, where she guided the strategic planning and development of the preK-12 Christian school, including a robust honors program, 100% graduation rate, and 100% college acceptance rate. Since 2018, all graduates have earned college scholarships. She led the South Carolina Independent School Association by serving as the chair of the academic committee and as lead evaluator on multiple Cognia accreditation teams. At the time of her departure, Cutler was dedicated to acquiring grants to fund the school and managing multiple grant budgets successfully. During her tenure, she exceeded student post secondary goals and formed relationships with a diverse network of education professionals. Additionally, Cutler has received research and operational grants for K-12 education.
Prior to moving to South Carolina, Cutler served as a special projects coordinator at the University of Tennessee, where she combined her expertise in administration, pre-professional training, and collaborative team management as she navigated the cross-curricular graduate student training between audiology, speech pathology, education of the deaf and general education. She contributed her expertise to medical centers, private clinics, and education systems, serving a diverse caseload from NICU to geriatrics.
Cutler received her bachelor of arts in audiology and speech pathology from the University of Florida (Gainesville). She earned a master of arts in audiology from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), and her Ph.D in communciation sciences and disorders from the University of Georgia (Athens). Her dissertation was entitled "The Effectiveness of Verbotonal Therapy for Children with Cochlear Implants." She also completed special training and research in pediatric cochlear implantation while at the University of Miami Medical School during her clinical fellowship year. Cutler has presented numerous times at the South Carolina Independent School Association, the American Montessori Society, the Hawaii International Conference on Education, the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, the Georgia Speech and Hearing Association, the Eastern Educational Research Association, the Tennessee Speech and Hearing Association, the Annual Meeting of Experimental Biology, and internationally at the International Symposium of the Verbotonal System (Zagreb, Croatia). Cutler holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology (CCC-A) through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
